As a specialized wedding photographer, I regularly work with couples who are shy in front of the camera.
Today, I wanted to share my tips to help you feel comfortable in front of my lens and get photos that authentically reflect your personality and love.
A big thank you to Valérie for the couple's photo session in Lausanne. We had such a great time!! Thanks also for making us feel comfortable, the good energy was present throughout. I recommend Valérie for all your photography needs, whatever the theme! The results are simply delightful :-)
Communication is Key
From our very first meeting, I create an open dialogue space where you can freely express your concerns.
For example, if you prefer to be photographed from a certain angle or if certain poses make you uncomfortable, I adapt to ensure you have a comfortable and memorable experience.
During our engagement photo session, I often bring a mood board with inspiration photos so you can tell me what you like and don't like.
It's very important to me that you remember your photo session as a moment out of time, a temporal bubble where you felt comfortable with me.
The Engagement Session: Your Best Ally
I cannot stress this enough, the engagement photo session is THE session you must do!
This preliminary session is like a relaxed rehearsal before the big day.
During a recent session, a particularly shy couple transformed into a confident duo after just 10 minutes of shooting, and you can see it in the photos!
A Reassuring Environment
The choice of location is crucial.
This summer, I had the chance to photograph a couple on a beach that was particularly meaningful to them - the very same beach where their engagement story began.
The sunrise and soothing sound of waves created a magical atmosphere, but it was especially the deep emotional connection with this place that gave the session a special dimension.
I also love creating memorable moments where you toast to your love and happiness.
The idea is simple but powerful: use a drink that truly represents your personality and your story, whether it's an elegant glass of champagne, a refreshing bottle of Coca-Cola that reminds you of your first dates, or even that craft beer you love sharing together — it's your unique story that matters, and these personal details make the moment even more authentic and meaningful.
The Secret to Natural Photos
I encourage my couples to focus on each other rather than on the camera.
For example, I might suggest sharing a funny memory or whispering sweet nothings, or words that are just between you :-)), creating authentic intimate moments that I capture discreetly.
Action Rather than Posing
I favor dynamic activities: a hand-in-hand walk, an improvised dance, or even a simple game together.
These moments of action create spontaneous and lively photos.
At Your Own Pace
Every couple is unique, and I adapt to your tempo.
If you need a break or want to change activities, I'm here to support you and make this session an enjoyable experience.
Remember: your wedding celebrates your unique love. As your photographer, I am committed to creating an environment where you will feel comfortable enough to be authentically yourselves.
My mission is to guide you while preserving your natural self, capturing those precious moments that will tell your love story for generations to come.
Trust me to transform your shyness into an asset and create images that truly reflect who you are.
Don't hesitate to contact me so we can discuss how I could capture these unforgettable moments for you.
xoxo Valérie
